Brockdish school Ofsted joy

Posted by: Stephen In: Local Information

STAFF, governors, parents and children at Brockdish Primary School celebrated a happy Christmas after Ofsted and Church reports described an improving school.

Inspectors found that there has been a marked improvement in the progress made by pupils, all groups of pupils are set challenging targets, the school is well-led and managed, and governors are highly committed to the well-being of all pupils and take their responsibilities seriously.

The report said pupils are well supported pastorally and academically, they enjoy school, behave well and are attentive in lessons.

There is a strong caring ethos throughout the school, and staff know the needs of the pupils well.

The reports said the pupils behave well and are attentive in lessons, and relationships are very good throughout the school. Head teacher Peter Lacey-Hastings is described as providing clear direction, ensuring that the school is committed to raising standards, promoting high quality teaching and ensuring that the school lies at the heart of the community.

Mr Lacey-Hastings said: I am pleased that the progress that the school, staff, governors and pupils have made since the last visit has been recognised by Ofsted and I am confident that we can continue to improve even further. The inspection recognises the high expectations we have.

I’m also pleased that Ofsted noted how much the children enjoy school, while recognising the general caring ethos that we have here.

This is a happy school, where everyone and everyone’s individual contributions are valued, and a pleasing Ofsted report like this is a boost to the whole community.
